Pettersen advocates for local projects in Fairplay, Bailey

U.S. Representative Brittany Pettersen (CO-07) announced she has requested tens of millions of dollars in federal funding for 20 community projects across Colorado’s 7th Congressional District. Pettersen’s projects include efforts to expand access to affordable health care in rural areas, bolster wildfire prevention efforts, upgrade critical water infrastructure, and more. In Park County, the projects include a new police station in Fairplay and funding support for the Platte Canyon Fire Protection District renovation and expansion. “Over the past year, we have seen Trump make life more unaffordable and difficult for families across our state. That’s why I’m working on projects that will directly address our community’s needs – like expanding access to affordable health care and enhancing protections from wildfires,” said Pettersen. “These projects will make a positive difference in people’s lives from Lakewood to Salida, and everywhere in between. I’m so proud to work hand-in-hand with our community on these important projects, and I’ll keep fighting throughout the appropriations process to secure the funds to support these community-driven initiatives.” Community Project Funding allows members of Congress to submit funding requests for initiatives based in their districts. Though each member can submit up to 20 requests, no request is guaranteed. The projects championed by the Office of Representative Pettersen include the Town of Fairplay at $1,200,000 for the construction of a new police station that includes police operations, a community room, sleeping/living quarters for officers, and an interview room in Fairplay. She will also be advocating for the Platte Canyon Fire Protection District at $5,000,000 for the renovation and expansion of a fire station to increase apparatus bay space, improve firefighter living quarters, and modernize infrastructure critical to wildland fire response in Bailey. |
