WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Brittany Pettersen (CO-07) voted against Republicans’ reckless budget legislation that would increase the national debt by $14 trillion over the next decade, slash Medicaid and jeopardize care for 1.1 million Coloradans, and give tax cuts to billionaires like Elon Musk. “As a mom of two, I can’t imagine being in a position where you cannot provide health care for your kids or put food on the table. But Republicans are pushing a completely reckless budget plan under the guise of reducing the deficit and lowering costs. We know it does the opposite. It increases our debt by trillions, makes life more expensive for hardworking families, and rips away care from those who need it most – all to give tax breaks to billionaires like Elon Musk.” “Pregnant women will lose critical care. Hospitals will be overwhelmed as more people are forced into emergency rooms. Seniors, veterans, and kids in need will have food taken off the table. People are already struggling to make ends meet.
